ElectroStat acts as a partner to implement, manage, train and audit electrostatic systems. We provide independent advice, testing, auditing and training. Our core business is electrostatic discharge (ESD). We provide consultancy and testing services focusing on preventing electrostatic discharge and ensuring ESD protection. We also offer electrostatic discharge training, as well as the implementation and maintenance of electrostatic discharge programs.

EFFECTS OF ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE (ESD)

All materials have different levels of sensitivity for building up electrostatic charges. When those materials are brought together or have contact, a discharge will occur. The magnitude of the discharge depends upon the tribo-electro properties.

Electronic components can be seriously damaged by electrostatic discharges, resulting in immediate or latent failures.

Immediate failures. Unseen electronic damage can cause a higher manufacturing cost such as loss of production, rework and scrap. Defects which fail during production will probably not reach the customer.

Latent failures. More problematic than an immediate failure, an electrostatic discharge can weaken the electronic component, with a higher rate of failure after reaching the customer. More than 90% of these defects are caused by latent failures. Resultant repair costs include personnel, travel and material costs. A still higher cost is the potential loss of the customer.

ElectroStat can also provide a pre-audit before the certification audit and perform periodic audits as required by quality standards.
