Michael Garner 

Programme manager of external materials research in the technology strategy organization at Intel Corporation, Garner received his PhD in materials science and engineering from Stanford University in 1978. He joined Sandia National Labs as a process and product engineer and moved to Intel in 1983, where he worked in the technology and manufacturing group, as the manager of components research and the director of fab materials and materials technology operation. Since 2004 he has also been leader of the emerging research materials work group of the ITRS roadmap for semiconductors identifying critical materials, synthesis, metrology and modelling requirements for emerging research devices through to 2020. He is the programme manager of external materials research in the technology strategy organisation.
